Job Description:

The GIS Analyst position requires at least a B.S. in geography, geology, environmental science, or related field and completion of relevant college level courses or training in GIS. Qualified applicants will have knowledge of theory, implementation, integration, and application of GIS, geospatial technologies, and GPS. Two years of GIS work experience is desirable.

Responsibilities of this position include support in the areas of data QA/QC to discover inconsistencies, and other anomalies in spatial data and performing data cleansing activities to improve the data quality, data management, spatial analysis, and map production. Additional duties may include general technical support (spreadsheet work and calculations).

Candidates must have strong knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS version 10 software suite, MS Office (particularly Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with relational databases (MS Access). Ideal candidates will be able to work independently and will possess strong organizational abilities; excellent written, oral, quantitative, and graphic communication skills; and a high attention to detail.

PacifiCorp is looking for two GIS supervisors; one position is open now (see www.pacificorp.com/car/op.html)  and the other will be opening soon.  Each position heads up the two separate groups in GIS that report to the Director of GIS Support Services.  The Production group is responsible for keeping the distribution system and connectivity  updated.   For now, this is predominately a CAD shop.  The solutions group does more traditional GIS analysis, map production, data requests/reporting, etc.

Ecotrust is seeking a senior front-end web developer to design and implement user experiences for our sophisticated software platforms and tools. You are a solid web developer with HTML, CSS, Javascript and graphic design chops. You excel at creating workflows that are intuitive and visualizations that illuminate. Positive client relations come easily to you. You appreciate being listened to and seen as an expert by your team. Wireframes, sitemaps and storyboards are well worn tools in your arsenal and you understand the importance of usability testing in refining your work.

Our development team uses a wide variety of tools and languages but our typical software stack includes Python and Django on the back-end and JQuery or Sencha on the front-end. We believe in using and releasing open source software. Advanced map interaction and analysis are commonplace in our tools and web cartography and chart design can become important roles for you. Mobile devices and tablets are also becoming prevalent in our work. We strive to use standard design patterns and technology within our applications but experimentation is encouraged at Ecotrust. We are early adopters and are often taking bleeding-edge technology and applying it in new combinations and to new domains.

Requirements
- 5+ years front-end web development experience
- Strong Javascript skills. Experience with JQuery or other client-side libraries
- Graphic design experience

The Estuary Partnership is opening a recruitment to fill a Research Scientist/GIS Analyst position.  This will be a limited duration, approximately ¾ time, position for one year. (There is a possibility of extension.)

Work will entail coordinating the Estuary Partnership's action effectiveness monitoring program and providing GIS & data support, and other assistance as needed to the Estuary Partnership's habitat restoration program.  The successful candidate will be an excellent team player and a strong communicator, comfortable with a diversity of projects, and have a broad background based in natural resources.  Knowledge of lower Columbia River issues is a plus.
