Job Description: The GIS Analyst position requires at least a B.S. in geography, geology, environmental science, or related field and completion of relevant college level courses or training in GIS. Qualified applicants will have knowledge of theory, implementation, integration, and application of GIS, geospatial technologies, and GPS. Two years of GIS work experience is desirable. Responsibilities of this position include support in the areas of data QA/QC to discover inconsistencies, and other anomalies in spatial data and performing data cleansing activities to improve the data quality, data management, spatial analysis, and map production. Additional duties may include general technical support (spreadsheet work and calculations). Candidates must have strong knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS version 10 software suite, MS Office (particularly Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with relational databases (MS Access). Ideal candidates will be able to work independently and will possess strong organizational abilities; excellent written, oral, quantitative, and graphic communication skills; and a high attention to detail.
