            The Grand Canyon Trust is hiring a GIS Program Manager. The Trust's mission is to protect and restore the Colorado Plateau — its spectacular landscapes, flowing rivers, clean air, diversity of plants and animals, and areas of beauty and solitude. 

            The GIS Program Manager will provide GIS, IT and data management support for the Trust’s conservation and environmental advocacy programs, with an emphasis on developing a conservation GIS program, increasing organizational GIS capacity, and applying a vision of how GIS tools can advance
            conservation on the Colorado Plateau.  The position produces high-quality cartographic products, conducts spatial analyses, acquires spatial data, maintains and upgrades hardware and software, maintains spatial and non-spatial databases for the organization, manages the program’s budget, develops relationships in the greater GIS community, supervises interns and volunteers, and assists in

            THE POSITION:
            The Information Systems Analyst II – GIS, Vertical Specialty in the Bureau of Technology Services will be responsible for the analysis, configuration and testing of the GIS interface and integration of the
            City’s corporate GIS databases and the e-Permitting system. This position will perform GIS analysis, design, programming and support to determine how the geospatial data will be optimally stored in the
            e-Permitting and CGIS databases. This position needs experienced Web Developers with experience in working with Web GIS tools such as Google Maps, MapServer, or ArcGIS Server.eloping Google Maps
            interfaces, and a strong programming background. Experience with Google Earth, ArcGIS Server, SQL Server, JavaScript, Flex, Java and Objective C are all highly desirable, although not required.  As a
            condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a comprehensive police background investigation.

            This is a 2-year limited term position. Persons appointed to limited term positions will be designated as limited duration employees whose
            appointment shall not exceed two (2) years except for the extension of grants or funding from outside sources.



            TO QUALIFY:
            - ability to code in at least one of the following languages: C#, VB.NET, PHP, ColdFusion, or Java.
            ability to perform analytical work using ArcGIS and similar tools.
            - expert knowledge and experience with GIS Concepts.
            - knowledge of relational database products such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and Access, with hands on experience in database design, creating and modifying SQL scripts or stored procedures and
            effective use of indexes
            - knowledge and job-related, hands-on experience in analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of software
            applications.

            APPLICANTS MUST ALSO POSSESS: The ability to successfully pass an
            in-depth Portland Police background investigation.

            The Position:

            Under general supervision, a GIS Technician II performs specialized duties in the development, operation and use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). These duties include: creating and maintaining both 2D and 3D GIS data and relational databases; performing complex vector and raster-based spatial analysis; developing analytical tools and models for performing spatial analysis; developing and maintaining web-based maps and tools; using cartographic and graphic design techniques to represent both 2D and 3D spatial data as maps, charts, and graphics; packaging, documenting, and distributing GIS data to other agencies and the public; and statistical analysis of GIS data. Although the current vacancy is in the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, other bureaus may use this list to fill future vacancies.  Additional skills desired for this position are knowledge of and experience with the Python programming language and it's application to GIS; knowledge of and experience with the .NET programming framework and it's application to GIS; knowledge and experience with web development languages such as HTML and Javascript; and experience with 3D visualization software such as ArcGIS's ArcScene, Google Sketchup, and Google Earth.

            Portland Public Schools has an immediate opening for a part-time GIS project specialist.  A well-qualified applicant will have:
            • Work history using ArcGIS 9 or 10 and Adobe Illustrator to create presentation-quality maps
            • Experience managing files and geodatabases using ArcCatelog 
            • Programming/editing experience with ArcMap or comparable software
            • Ability to work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
            • Prior experience incorporating GIS in a public participation process preferable
            Approximately 25 hours per week (flexible) through the end of 2011, with possible extension into 2012.  Rate:  16.50 - $18.00 per hour, depending on experience.
