CARTOGRAPHY AND GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SOCIETY announces

            2010 ESRI USER CONFERENCES:
FULL CONFERENCE REGISTRATIONS AVAILABLE FOR STUDENT VOLUNTEERS

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: Monday, May 24, 2010

The Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) is once again pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of FULL CONFERENCE REGISTRATIONS available for students to act as booth volunteers ("ambassadors") at the 2010 ESRI User Conference (12-16 July), the ESRI
Education User Conference (10-13 July), in San Diego, CA. CaGIS and its affiliated organizations will offer full registrations (worth up to $1395) to the User Conference and the Education User Conference. These ambassadors
will, in return, be responsible for staffing the CaGIS information booth at the exhibition pavilion of the conference for allotted periods of time during the conference. We are looking for volunteers who will appropriately and positively represent the society to the public. Students must (a) be
enrolled in an undergraduate (BA or BS) or graduate program, (b) be a current CaGIS member (not a member? join now: http://www.cartogis.org/), (c) have research and/or career interests that align with the mission of
the society, and (d) be outgoing, friendly, and professional in appearance and manner. Students selected to staff our booth at previous conferences are encouraged to apply for the opportunity again this year.

Our awards cover only the conference registrations. Travel and other expenses related to attending the conference are the responsibility of the volunteer.

            To apply, please:

-- send an e-mail describing how you meet the above criteria to Dr. Rob Edsall, Student Activity Coordinator of CaGIS, at edsal001@umn.edu, and

-- arrange for your advisor or another faculty member who knows you and your research/career interests to send an e-mail to the above address affirming your status as a student and addressing the preference criteria.

In both e-mails, please indicate "ESRI Conference Volunteer Application" in the subject line.

Please address any questions regarding this program to Dr. Edsall. The deadline for applications is Monday, May 24, at 5:00pm CDT.
