            Description
            Spatial Analyst/Information Management Specialist

            NOAA Environmental Response Management Application

            Gulf Coast Region
            I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) (www.imsg.com) has an immediate need for talented individuals with experience in geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial data management to support the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill response.  Successful candidates will work with the Environmental Response Management Application (ERMA) team to learn ERMA and then support the OR&R home team and the field operations with daily layer management (uploads, organization, linking with ResponseLink, developing preferred views for briefings, websites, and other outreach efforts).   The public version of the ERMA system is available for viewing at. http://www.geoplatform.gov/gulfresponse/.  This site includes a subset of the information available on ERMA. 

            This is an exempt hourly and temporary position with an end date of Sept. 30, 2010 (possibility of extension).   The positions are rotational assignments.  Employees will work 16 days at the work site including travel days (if required) followed by a 10 day break before the next 16 day on site rotation.  Work days while on site will be 10-12 hours and include weekends.   The work sites are located in Houma, LA; Robert, LA, Mobile, AL, Miami, FL and Washington DC.  Travel expenses will be covered.   

            Duties:
            • Compiling and organizing spatial data and metadata
            • Building spatial data sets from field surveys
            • Load and symbolize data into OR&R Environmental Response Management Application (ERMA)
            • Working within a team conducting spatial analysis
            • Development of paper and digital maps and other visual aids
            Qualifications:
            • Experience using ESRI ArcGIS software and extensions for spatial data development, analysis and/or metadata documentation is required
            • Organization and attention to detail
            • Excellent written and oral communication skills
            • Experience in any of the following areas highly desirable:
              1. Multiuser Geodatabase
              2. Authoring and Deploying Fast Web Maps
              3. Authoring and Publishing Optimized Map Services
              4. Publishing Map Services with ArcGIS Server 9.3
              5. Editing Spatial Data in ArcGIS
              6. Building Geodatabase Data Models
              7. Simple Scripting
            • Experience and skill in cartography is highly desirable
