River-in-Focus: The Willamette River Transit Bridge – the first bridge built over the Willamette River in over 35 years.
 
Dave Unsworth, TriMet’s Deputy Project Manager for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Project, will describe the first transit-only bridge in the United States to be built here in Portland between the Marquam and the Ross Island bridges. This cable-stayed bridge will be host to light rail, bus, future Streetcar, cyclists and pedestrians, but no private vehicles. Dave will describe the features of the bridge, the multiple layers of environmental hurdles and permitting needed to undertake such a project, and the basic construction plan to erect this structure.
