The annual Urban Ecology & Conservation symposium hosted by the Urban Ecosystem Research Consortium (UERC) on January 24, 2011 was packed with a series of short presentations, keynote speakers, a poster session and time for networking.  Because presentations at the symposium are short, the UERC offers its "First Friday" brown bag series to allow for more in-depth presentations and discussions around various topics that attendees want to know more about.  "First Friday" brown bag presentations are held over the lunch hour at the Metro building in Portland.  All are welcome to attend.

Next presentation:  September 9, 2011 (Note: this one's not scheduled on the first Friday either due to the prior holiday weekend)

Speakers:  Roy Iwai, Water Resources Specialist, Multnomah County - Road Services and Jeff Meacham, Graduate Student, Portland State University

Topic:  Watershed-wide macroinvertebrate monitoring in Johnson Creek
