Position Title: Natural Resource Specialist 1(Assistant field operations) Job Description: Would you like the opportunity to work with exciting employees at the Plant Conservation Program? If so the Plant Conservation Program is currently recruiting for a Natural Resource Specialist 1(Assistant field operations) position. As the Natural Resource Specialist 1 (Assistant field operations), you will assist the Natural Resource Specialist 3 (Field Office Coordinator) with logistical and field support. Logistical support includes planning for a variety of field-based insect surveys and associated supplies needed such as, determining the number of insect lures, survey supplies, and vehicle needs for the season. In addition, you will be responsible for ordering lures and survey supplies, assisting with maintaining seasonal fleet vehicles and organizing and maintaining the warehouse in working order with supplies stocked. Field support includes placing insect traps, reviewing paper and electronic maps, and assisting field crews. In addition, as the Natural Resource Specialist 1(Assistant field operations), you will participate in the insect laboratory, biological control, and eradication programs with field work, lab work, and care for insect and plant colonies. During eradication programs or when positive insects are detected, you may help out with educational outreach and out public town hall meetings. Our Natural Resource Specialist 1 (Assistant field operations) is a permanent full-time position, is based out of the Portland field office, in Beaverton, Oregon and is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). The City of Auburn Engineering department is looking to add a Temporary GIS Technician to our team! This is a limited hour, non-benefited position, scheduled for 29 hours per week. This position performs technical and field work in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS), AutoCAD, and other related software needed to collect, input, maintain, and retrieve transportation, water, sewer, storm, and other City infrastructure information from/for a centralized spatial database to support the City's Engineering asset management efforts. Work schedule and location Work hours for this position are flexible during the regular City office hours of Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. As this position is limited to 29 hours per week, you will work one 8-hour work day, and three 7-hour work days in order to meet the workload and service levels needed for this position and the department. At this time, the City buildings are closed to the public through March 31, 2021, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. While we are anticipating and preparing to open our buildings, we acknowledge that it's important to prepare for all possibilities. Purpose This is a non-supervisory skilled technical Geographic Information System (GIS) position that maintains land information and produces land information products through ArcGIS software for government and public use. Essential Functions Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Participate in the continuous development of the department’s geographic information system including: Design, create, and maintain geodatabases, maps, data files, and documentation using ArcGIS software. • May input and update tax lots, soils, land use, streams, roads, topography, zoning, comprehensive plan, survey control points; using the GIS under the direction of the GIS Committee and GIS Coordinator/Analyst. • Produces custom maps of land information to meet specific public and county GIS user needs. • Tabulate statistics, frequencies and data summaries. • Position is responsible for providing technical support to departmental users. • Coordinate with county GIS Coordinator/Analyst. • Other duties as assigned. • Follow all safety rules and procedures established for work area. Mandatory Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Natural Resources, Computer Science, Planning, Environment Science, or a related field. • Minimum of one year of GIS work experience. • Knowledge of basic cartographic principals and sources of mapping materials; principals of Geographic Information System including entry/updates, analysis, and map production. • A working knowledge of Windows; relational databases (SQL Server preferred). • Able to resolve and troubleshoot GIS-related problems. • Must have and maintain current driving privileges in the state of Oregon. |
