One full-time position is available. This position will be filled at the assistant or associate level depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications. This position will be stationed in the Modeling Services section within the Research Center Department at Metro. This group is well known for its innovative approaches to problem solving and modeling expertise.
Assistant pay range: $52,623.68 - $70,468.22 annually
Associate pay range: $58,053.38 - $77,661.33 annually
The position incumbent will serve as a travel demand modeler and data analysis researcher participating in numerous multimodal transportation studies within the Portland region. Locally developed travel models and commercially prepared network analysis tools are used to determine the impacts from potential infrastructure improvements and household / employment growth assumptions. Typical tasks may involve the coding of simulation networks, the application of travel demand models, and the analysis and interpretation of results. The more experienced incumbent may be involved in the design of new models. Software programming, database development and query methods, statistical analysis, and GIS will be used extensively in this work. The skill levels of the two classifications vary. Incumbents will be assigned work tasks that match their demonstrated skill level.
