The Institute for Natural Resources at Portland State University is hiring an Urban Vegetation Technician for a project investigating the drivers of vascular plant and microbe diversity in Portland yards.

Work will be 40 hours/week with no overtime anticipated. Compensation is $20.00/hour plus $0.58/mile for use of a personal vehicle (if applicable). Duties: • Visit properties in the Portland metro area and survey the outdoor and vegetated portions of the property. • Work independently (following 2 weeks of training), organizing your own daily and weekly schedule. • Maintain organized records for each site visited, entering property information and vascular plant lists into a spreadsheet weekly. • (optional) Assist with overnight fieldwork in Eastern Oregon monitoring native vegetation. Desired Qualifications: • Knowledge of common ornamental plants and weeds.
