What We Are Looking For
 
Three years of experience in geologic mapping, tectonics, active faults, and seismic hazards or closely related field. At least one year of the experience must be at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities; AND a Bachelor's degree in geography, geology or closely related physical science, or three additional years of related experience and course work. Please note: A Master's degree in geography, geology or closely related physical science will substitute for up to one year of the required experience and a Doctorate degree in geography, geology or closely related physical science will substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
 
Candidates who are the most competitive will also reflect the following:

• Oregon Registered Geologist or Oregon Certified Engineering Geologist or in an area of professional practice that overlaps with a Registered Geologist or Certified Engineering Geologist. Current Oregon licensure is preferred, but those eligible to be licensed will also be considered.
• Expert knowledge of geographic information systems, experience using GIS applications, such as ESRI ArcGIS Desktop suite.
• Knowledge of vertical and horizontal datum, mapping projections and geographic coordinate systems.
• Demonstrated success in project management.
• Experience in participating in decision making and cooperative interactions among staff and management.
