We currently have an immediate opening for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst I or II, DOE, in our Corporate Information Technology (IT) department. As a GIS Analyst, the position will provide spatial analysis and GIS application support for the J.R. Simplot Company. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of GIS, IT, and business experience and must be able to work in a team environment. Key responsibilities of the GIS Analyst include (but are not limited to): ~ Support existing GIS applications and technologies ~ Create, implement, integrate, and maintain GIS applications and data utilizing ESRI's GIS tools, database tools, and various programming languages ~ Design and produce various maps ~ Develop geographic analysis, queries and reports ~ Manage small GIS project initiatives, change requests, or phases of large GIS projects. ~ Interpret, integrate and analyze aerial photography. Assist with data creation and collection including the principles and practices of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) ~ Provide spatial data conversion using various hardware (scanners and digitizers) and software tools ~ Prioritize and coordinate with IT and business resources to resolve complicated technical problems ~ Act as a liaison between IT development group and business units to develop and implement new GIS systems or enhance existing applications. Coordinate activities with colleagues, vendors, and outsourcing firms to complete projects across functional lines ~ Create and maintain functional and technical GIS specifications ~ Provide communication, manuals, and user training as required Simplot's core GIS technologies: ESRI ArcGIS Server 9.3.1, SDE, Geocortex Essentials, Flex, ArcInfo, ArcEditor, ImageServer, ArcGIS Network Analyst, ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, MS SQL Server 2008 Bachelors degree (Geography, GIS, or IT degree preferred). Minimum of 3+ years of related business and/or functional experience. The position requires excellent oral, written, facilitation and presentation skills. Python, Flex, Silverlight, HTML, SQL and/or other programming language knowledge and experience desired.
