The Center for Ecosystem Management and Restoration, Inc. (www.cemar.org), an Oakland, California based nonprofit, is seeking a GIS Analyst to begin work around October 15, 2010. The Analyst will work with CEMAR staff to apply GIS tools and techniques in support of our work on steelhead restoration and conservation hydrology in California. Qualified candidates will have several years of professional experience with ArcGIS, including key extensions such as Spatial Analyst, ArcHydro and 3D Analyst. Understanding of ArcGIS ModelBuilder, Visual Basic programming and interfacing with Microsoft applications (Access, Excel) is also important. Candidates should have references that document their abilities in this regard, including experience maintaining a geospatial database library. Strong candidates will also possess the ability to provide general information technology support for a small business with a mixed network (Macintosh & PC), including software installation, virus detection, hardware/software maintenane and upgrades, network storage/ftp server, and intranet/internet networking. Basic HTML-authoring knowledge (such as Dreamweaver™), an understanding of cartography, and a willingness to do some scientific fieldwork in support of CEMAR’s program will strengthen an application.
