JOB DESCRIPTION
Local Unit & Position Description 

DNV GL - Renewables Advisory is currently seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst will join the multi-disciplinary Environmental and Permitting Services (EPS) Section within DNV GL. The dynamic working environment will require easily adaptable and technical employees to provide services across a wide range of active projects, including those in the development, design, construction, and operational phases of project lifecycles. This position is based out of our Portland, OR office.

Tasks May Include
  • Research, inventory, analyze and integrate GIS data
  • Undertake multi-criteria spatial analysis
  • Produce thematic maps
  • Assist with renewable energy project site selection and characterization studies
  • Prepare elevation and roughness maps for wind resource assessments
  • Assist with the development of new geospatial tools and GIS services to support renewable energy developers
  • Occasional assistance with research and reporting for environmental mandates, such as environmental impact studies, environmental phase I ESA, hydrological studies, electromagnetic interference studies, etc.
  • Occasional site visits


Position Qualifications 
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering; Geomatics Sciences, Geographic Information Systems; Environmental Geomatics; Environmental Science or Geography and Geospatial Science
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with ArcGIS for Desktop (internship or coursework will be considered)
  • General knowledge and interest in renewable energy project development, design, and construction activities
  • Proficiency with MS Office Word/Excel
  • Excellent analytical and reporting abilities
  • Individual should display a positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment 
  • Proven Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) mindset
  • Positive attitude, takes on initiatives, detailed and results oriented
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 5% of the time domestically to project sites and internal meetings
  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

Preferred skills (not required)
  • 3 years of GIS educational experience 
  • Knowledge of programming language and database management
  • Knowledge of web mapping platforms
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
