Summary
This position is a mid-level position in the GIS Department. The GIS Analyst works with the GIS Manager with minimal supervision and will support the day-to-day operations of the department. The GIS Analyst will be carrying out GIS work and apply GIS technology to produce and develop digital data, databases, documentation, and other information in support of the County’s GIS program. The incumbent creates, maintains, and distributes geospatial data. The incumbent must have an effective mix of technical skills in the geographic and computer science disciplines, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Model Builder, Web AppBuilder, Python as well as the current Microsoft Office Suite. The incumbent will be comfortable working with versioned data inside of a relational database management system. This individual must have a strong computer background and a basic understanding of networked systems. The incumbent will be comfortable with ArcGIS Enterprise and all of its components. The incumbent will produce and work with web services to be consumed by a variety of applications and a diverse audience. The incumbent will have some experience with coding languages (i.e., html, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, etc.). The incumbent will be comfortable with starting GIS projects and seeing them through to completion with some oversight from the GIS manager.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment

Essential functions are performed in an office environment that is environmentally controlled; possess sufficient hand coordination to perform keyboarding and data entry; arm/hand movements to retrieve work materials and operate a variety of general office equipment.

Physical Demands

The position is frequently required to sit, walk, stoop, bend, reach, stand, grasp, talk, hear, and see. Work will sometimes be performed in a field setting which may require protective equipment to protect against potential environmental hazards or involve working in uncomfortable conditions for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, reach, stand, walk, grasp, talk, hear, see, lift up to 50 pounds, and to work in sometimes adverse conditions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are flexible at the discretion of the GIS Manager.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS or Geography (or a related subject) is preferred. Minimum of an
  • Associate Degree in GIS (2-year certification) with proven hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 2-year experience working in GIS
  • Education or experience in the GIS field.
  • Education or experience in local government
  • Able to complete a thorough employment and/or criminal history check.
  • Final candidates will be required to provide official proof of college degree and certified transcripts (not required for all positions)
