Overview

In this role you will develop and deliver GIS products & solutions ensuring that customer needs are met. You pride yourself on your forward thinking and collaborative approach, and are excited to be leading all aspects of the product development life-cycle (specifications, development, testing, rollout, documentation, etc).

The Multnomah County Department of County Management (DCM) Division of Assessment, Recording & Taxation (DART) is looking for talented candidates who are eager to have an opportunity to work in an independent, innovative, and future focused role, working to bring GIS to the forefront of a department.

This rewarding work will be accomplished through:
  • Building and maintaining web & mobile GIS tools & products using best available technology for internal and external customers.
  • Data Management and support for geographic data related to DART business
  • Develop data management workflows that utilize GIS
  • Create custom hard copy, web, and story maps
  • Design and implement data analysis workflows & tools
  • Design, develop and maintain spatial databases
  • Geographic analysis and reporting

To Qualify
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
  • Education/Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in GIS, geography, math, computer science, business, or a related field demonstrating the capacity for the required knowledge and skills; AND
  • Experience:  Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience in GIS
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: 
You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Please clearly explain on your application how you meet any of the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS skills (desktop, online, mobile, etc)
  • Working knowledge of database concepts and connectivity with ESRI ArcSDE services
  • Working knowledge of content and app development for web mapping platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS Online and/or Latitude Geographics Geocortex.
  • Working knowledge of converting common data file formats into native ArcGIS formats, projections, coordinate systems
  • Working knowledge of scripting with Python and Model Builder
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles and ability to create and manage software development project plans
  • Ability to interact and work with a diverse group of people and at all levels of the organization.
  • Public sector experience
