GIS Data Steward
 
In this position your primary responsible will be to provide continuity in the operations and maintenance (O&M) of enterprise relational database management systems, applying IT best practices, ensuring quality assurance and timely delivery of authoritative content and data services (internal and external).

Duties
Key Duties Include:

• Provides continuity in the operations and maintenance (O&M) of enterprise-level relational database management systems.
• Streamline business workflows for enterprise data management, discovery and reporting
• Performs miscellaneous mapping support for a variety of programmatic business activities and services (e.g., planning, public recreation).
• Participate on new or emerging IT/GIS projects.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GIS, IT or closely related field, and
• Two (2) years of experience using GIS technologies (database design, data management, analysis, etc.), 

OR 

• Associates degree or completion of an accredited vocational training program in GIS or IT, and
• Three (3) years of experience usingin GIS technology (database design, data management, analysis, etc.).

 
Experience managing IT/GIS dataset in various formats, coordinate systems, etc.
Solid understanding of cartographic design principles; experience designing map layouts / templates in ArcGIS / ArcPro.
Knowledge of public land survey system (PLSS), non-PLSS lands descriptions and land survey principles.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

• Experience writing and/or modifying SQL statements to retrieve and summarize records from RDBMS.
• Basic experience with the Python scripting language.
• Formal coursework or certification natural resource management, land management, land survey or closely related field.
• Experience with multiple technologies and the ability to learn new things quickly.
