The Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition (ENLC) is currently hiring a GIS
specialist to work in Ely, Nevada District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).Located in Ely, Nevada, ENLC is a non-profit conservation organization comprised of public, private, and non-profit partners dedicated to the restoration of the Western ecosystems through collaborative teamwork. Ely is located in east central Nevada, 60 miles from the Utah border. Ely is a fairly isolated, small (5,000 people), rural town, located 250 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, and 250 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada. GIS Technicial Duties: The objective of this position is to work with the Ely BLM District to develop a GIS geodatabase of existing rights-of-ways within the Ely BLM jurisdiction. The GIS technician will do the following:
the remainder of the identified projects;
site, conflicts with existing maps, legal land descriptions;
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Qualified applicants should have one or more years experience with GIS. A degree in cartography, geography or any degree that uses extensive GIS is beneficial. Applicants must also be experienced with 4WD vehicles and should have a clean driving record for the past 3 years. Experience with utilizing Garmin or Trimble GPS units and programs (Trimble units and ArcPad) are a plus. SALARY: $18-20/hour, depending on experience. SCHEDULE: Positions run from early May through August. This position is currently for four months, but will likely be extended at least an additional four months.
