GIS Specialist w/ Kittelson & Associates (pdx)

Summary
The ideal candidate has strong organizational, communication, and time management capabilities; works effectively with technical and administrative staff; continually seeks to improve processes; is detail-oriented; and thrives in a non-structured environment.
In this role, you will support a variety of project teams across the firm with data management, analytical tasks and mapping for projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate GIS efforts/tasks with project managers and analysts.
  • Acquire data from public sources and agency data portals.
  • Develop/perform data processing workflows and analysis for projects.
  • Proper spatial, metadata and file management for projects using geodatabases and standard file structure.
  • Create and direct cartographic products for visual communication.
  • Apply and maintain GIS standards for projects.
  • Ensure that schedules are met for project/proposal/marketing deliverables.
  • Share project successes and short falls with the GIS group to improve firmwide practices.
  • Share innovative tools, project stories, and GIS accomplishments through companywide presentations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Strong GIS capabilities using Esri ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap, ArcGIS online, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst
  • Strong cartographic design skills and visual communication (please provide portfolio).
  • Works well in a high-pressure environment; manages workload and meets deadlines.
  • Persistent and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and assertive
  • Capable of handling multiple projects concurrently
  • Experience publishing web maps and applications to ArcGIS Online
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite and proficient in Word

Preferred Additional Qualifications
  • Python language experience and use of the arcpy module.
  • Minimum of 6 years of similar and relevant working experience
  • Experience working in the transportation profession
  • College degree preferred, in a field commensurate with the position (e.g., GIS or geography)

  • Passion for the GIS transportation industry and consulting
  • Natural teaching and mentoring ability

  • Outward focus, with high level of customer service

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary and benefits that include comprehensive employer-paid health insurance, a generous and flexible PTO program (in addition to parental leave), an outstanding retirement program, and a culture that seeks and values diversity and inclusion.

Base salary plus retirement range for this position (place in range determined by candidate’s experience): $80,000 – $105,000

We also recognize the performance of all staff through a performance bonus program based upon each individual’s contributions to key areas that lead to the achievement of our collective goals.
