Technical Support Specialist or Analyst

SALARY:
$24.39 - $32.73 Hourly
$4,227.60 - $5,673.20 Monthly
$50,731.20 - $68,078.40 Annually

THE POSITION:
The City of Lake Oswego announces an excellent opportunity within the Engineering Department. Under the direction of the Engineering Program Supervisor, the Technical Support Specialist or Technical Support Analyst is responsible for participating in the development and maintenance of the City's Geographical Information System (GIS). This position is represented by the Lake Oswego Municipal Employees Association (LOMEA)/ American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
 
Note:  There is only one job vacancy.  Depending upon the individual's qualifications, a candidate may be offered a position at either the Technical Support Specialist or the Technical Support Analyst level at the discretion of the hiring manager. 

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key responsibilities and functions can include but are not limited to:
  1. Produces maps and other analytical products using GIS software in response to requests from staff and the public.
  2. Develops and maintain the cartographic and tabular databases, and the GIS map base layers using ESRI and AutoCad software; represent current conditions, such as new or corrected addresses, annexation, minor partitions, etc.
  3. Examines engineering plans, aerial photographs, maps and legal descriptions in order to enter date into digital format to create layers or corrections to existing data; translate engineer's technical data in GIS format.
  4. Designs plans to extract and synthesize existing CAD data into a GIS format compatible with INFOR or similar asset management systems.
  5. Integrates GIS objects and data into the asset management system.
  6. Instructs city employees on operation of the integrated map view and INFOR.
  7. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and one to five years or work in GIS or computer science; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.  Candidates must have strong knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcView software programs, operating systems, such as Windows, Geo Administrator, and Adobe Illustrator. Prior experience with INFOR desired.   

Positions in this classification require the ability to possess and maintain a valid driver's license and ability to meet the City's driving standards.
