GIS TechnicianGIS - Tualatin, OR - Full Time

​Job Summary
AKS Engineering & Forestry has an immediate opening for a GIS Technician in our Tualatin office. You will work alongside a team of experienced surveyors, engineers, and land use planners and other professionals to provide GIS analysis, geospatial data processing, and map/exhibit generation. Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Geography, Planning, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is required with a focus on GIS preferred
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient with data management and organization and willing to learn
  • Experience in use of ESRI’s ArcGIS v10 software suite
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting deadline; and prioritize workload
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong report writing and data analysis skills
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with other multidisciplinary team members, clients, and public agencies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint

Job Functions & Responsibilities:  
This full-time position will provide support for site development and public works projects by developing and maintaining public agency databases and other GIS-based work products. Responsibilities will include:
  • Data analysis and management
  • Prepare hard copy and electronic figures and field maps in ArcGIS
  • Perform geospatial data management, analysis and documentation
  • Identify published sources and downloading spatial data in support of projects
  • Compile metadata documentation to Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and related standards
  • Perform geodatabase design, maintenance and documentation
  • Work with public agencies to create/update GIS databases
  • Assist with data gathering and compilation, GIS, GPS, mapping, and data analysis
  • Developing clearly written and detailed scopes of work for proposals
  • Coordinating with clients on project data and scheduling
  • Effectively and efficiently coordinating with in-house engineering and surveying co-workers
  • Developing and maintaining effective positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, permitting agency staff, and other project team members
  • Taking personal responsibility for completing quality work and meeting project budgets and timelines
  • Doing what needs to be done
