Overview
Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC) is looking for a resourceful, experienced GIS Technician to fill this full-time position in Ukiah, CA.

  • The successful candidate will work as a GIS team member to support forestry operations, forest science and other business-related requirements with emphasis on quality control of incoming data. 
  • You will use a variety of ESRI software and interfaces to effectively communicate spatial data and effectively train MRC and HRC staff in the correct implementation and usage of ArcMap, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, and mobile application tools.

Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The key areas of focus for this position are as follows;sing and similar special projects when the need arises.
  • Be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, especially using non-technical terms or jargon to customers.
  • Follow-through on complex assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritize product delivery as demand necessitates.
  • Participate in a team.
  • Create report quality map documents.
  • Edit and quality check various GIS features.
  • Create standardized layer files for company use.
  • Knowledge of basic geoprocessing tools to assist other GIS users.
  • Mentor the activities of personnel using desktop GIS, GIS portal, mobile applications. This includes support for analytical mapping and reporting jobs for forest management and forest science production.
  • Provides support and assistance for extra workload as needed.
  • Effectively document projects and procedures performed.
  • Proactively take advantage of opportunities to learn skills in order to progress in this position and to advance the organization’s data management effectiveness.
  • Career development opportunities including developing into a GIS analyst with the company.
Qualifications
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop to create, edit, and maintain spatial data.
  • Create map documents to effectively communicate business activities and results of complex spatial analyses.
  • Knowledge of geoprocessing concepts and the ability to execute tools.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online.
  • BA/BS Degree in GIS, Geography or natural resources field.
  • Preference 6 months GIS experience.

Physical Requirements
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Position may require travel locally, usually by pickup, up to 25% of the time.
