Brian Fulfrost and Associates is looking for someone to help them on a project of the Remote Sensing of tidal wetlands and mudflats. There is also possibility of additional work on the remote sensing of Harmful Algal Blooms.
We are looking for an experienced Image/GIS analyst, or savvy student, to help us on a project that is utilizing high resolution satellite imagery to map tidal wetlands (salt, brackish and freshwater marshes) as well as tidal mudflats in South San Francisco bay. The job is a mix of QA/QC of habitat model results, Image processing and analysis, spatial data management, and GIS data editing. The core work involves creating training sites for vegetation classification and reviewing and QA/QC’ing classification results. Attention to detail is an essential skill for completing this task. Also, knowledge of vegetation, although not essential, would be useful.
The job can include (but is not limited to) the following tasks:
• GIS data management,
• raster image processing and visualization (e.g. knowledge of multi-bands satellite imagery would be useful) ,
• vector data creation and editing,
• raster data analyses (knowledge of how to calculate band ratios/indices, unsupervised classification and supervised classification would be useful) and
• metadata documentation.
