The City of Forest Grove Job Title: Planning Intern – Wetland Inventory (Unpaid Internship) Overview: The City of Forest Grove is seeking an individual to provide assistance with updating the City’s 1993 Local Wetland Inventory. The work involves reviewing the files of regulatory agencies to identify wetlands not included in the 1993 inventory and updating the City’s wetland map using computer mapping/geographic information software. The individual will also have the opportunity to analyze the data compiled and complete a report summarizing major findings. The City’s Senior Long Range Planner will provide day-to-day project coordination under the direction of the Community Development Director. Required Qualifications: Applicants must be detail-oriented and have the ability to interpret maps, use a computer, and work independently. The ideal candidate should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70 and experience with a variety of computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and geographic information system software. Coursework and/or an interest in environmental studies or natural resources is helpful. Detailed Description: The City of Forest Grove, Community Development Department, is in need of assistance updating the City’s 1993 Local Wetland Inventory. The information will be used to improve the City’s buildable land inventory and help with efforts to update the City’s long-range comprehensive land use plan. The position will include a combination of office tasks and field work. The planning intern will assist the planning staff in collecting and interpreting environmental data. The planning intern will also assist planning staff with mapping the data for analysis and reporting.
