The National Park Service is hiring two summer season temp technicians for the data management team at the Northern Great Plains I&M Network in Rapid City, SD. These jobs run from April to the end of September/early October.
The GS-7 Cartographic Technician position is open from today (12/10/2020) through next Wednesday (12/16/2020) - or the first 75 applications. Major projects for the summer include maintaining an ArcGIS Online and Collector/Field Maps-based field data collection system and providing support for users, a major GIS data reorganization, and working on scripted tools for data maintenance and quality control. This technician will also provide maps and data management support for a small mammal camera trap project. This is an office job; limited fieldwork may be available with bat and prairie dog monitoring, and with GPS system testing.

They will also be hiring a GIS-focused GS-6 Bio Tech position for the same season, opening very soon. This tech will work on GIS data QA/QC, provide mapping support for our field crews, and help with documentation updates and training. It's mostly office work, with some opportunity for fieldwork for bat, prairie dog, and vegetation monitoring.
