On March 19th, ChickTech is hosting another workshop for High School Program. This workshop will be held at PCC Sylvania Campus and is taught by Emily McGrath.
This is an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using the ESRI program ArcMap. GIS is one of the fastest growing sectors of technology, in use by everything from non-profits focused on wildlife conservation to Yelp and NASA. There are no limits to where this interesting technology can take your career.
In this workshop girls will learn the basics of cartography, and then employ this knowledge together with their artistic skill to make maps of a region of the world. The workshop will teach girls how to think about the concept of mapping, how to choose complementary datasets, how to symbolize data, and how to use color and visual hierarchy to make maps both appealing and instructive.
If you have any GIS experience available, we would love any technical help we can get!!
