RSG seeks an Analyst for our Public Lands Planning and Management (PLPM) Practice in one of the following offices: White River Junction, VT or Portland, OR.
 
AS A PUBLIC LANDS PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT ANALYST
 
You work with RSG’s PLPM staff, assisting with visitor survey research, transportation and carrying capacity studies, and other related quantitative, social science studies in national parks and other federal lands recreation areas. RSG is the National Park Service’s lead contractor on visitor use and social science research in national parks throughout the United States.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Protected Areas Management, Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, Environmental Studies, Outdoor Recreation Management, or related social sciences discipline
  
• Experience in or desire to learn survey research methods and tools
  
• Strong quantitative, statistical analysis, and computing skills
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  
• Experience with or a desire to learn principles of visitor use management in national parks and public lands
  
• Ability to manage field-based data collection, sometimes for multi-week periods and in remote locations

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced skills and capabilities in MS Excel
  
• Computer simulation (ExtendSim), statistical analysis (SPSS, R, Q), and/or GIS software capabilities 
  
• Computer programming capabilities (e.g., Python, Visual Basic, C#)
  
• Experience conducting visitor use and social science research in national parks or other federal land areas
  
• Knowledge of scientific literature regarding visitor use and social science research in national parks
  
• This position will work out of our White River Junction, VT or Portland, OR office. Periodic travel is required. RSG is not currently accepting H-1B applicants for this position.
