POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified CAD Technician to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams to develop civil layout drawings in a 3D modeling environment.

As a CAD Technician, you will play a key role in designing and drafting plans and construction documents for a wide range of projects, including commercial, industrial, and residential developments, as well as public works and infrastructure improvements. Projects typically involve grading, roadway geometry, erosion control, drainage systems, utility design, and quantity calculations.

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Beaverton, Oregon.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create detailed civil layout drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Carlson Software
  • Generate profiles, alignments, surfaces, pipe networks, and construction details
  • Interpret and apply engineering plans, notes, and specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure model accuracy and drafting standards are met
  • Utilize Carlson Software tools for land surveying, topographic data, and surface modeling
  • Handle complex design and drafting tasks independently with minimal supervision
  • Produce clear technical manuals describing project features, operations, and maintenance
  • Review and verify engineering drawings for compliance with specifications and standards
  • Communicate effectively with staff, clients, local jurisdictions, and project consultants
  • Maintain productivity in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and surveying design processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including 3D modeling
  • Practical experience using Carlson Software for land surveying and civil design
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to create accurate models and drawings from verbal and written specifications
  • Familiarity with construction document standards and engineering terminology
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Associate's degree or higher in drafting, design, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in civil and survey CAD drafting
  • 5+ years of AutoCAD experience
  • 3+ years of Civil 3D experience
  • 2+ years of Carlson Software experience

SALARY
$55,000 - $70,000 annually

This position will be responsible for configuring Desktop, Web and Mobile solutions that incorporate GIS. The GIS Application Specialist should be able to configure ArcGIS mobile, web, and desktop applications to meet customer needs. QUALIFICATIONS

Description:
The Dangermond Fellowship is an exciting partnership between National Audubon Society and Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). This fellowship is designed to foster the next generation of leaders in the enterprise GIS, science, and nonprofit/conservation sectors. Throughout the year, Fellows receive extensive and immersive training in the full ArcGIS platform. Fellows also work directly with the Audubon network to provide support for new and ongoing projects. This presentation will highlight some of this work, including ways the Enterprise GIS department is incorporating AI to streamline quality reporting of trails and other assets at Audubon centers, providing flood risk assessments for Audubon properties, and large-scale analysis to understand how landscape and habitat plays into Audubon’s work.

Speakers:
Sophie Stein graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine with a B.A. in Environmental Policy.  Now based in Alaska, she combines her love for outdoor spaces with GIS mapping and community engaged research. In her role as a Dangermond Fellow, Sophie creates GIS products to enrich conservation science, policy & community engagement at Audubon.

Isaiah Bennett graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Geography with a minor in Spanish. As a part of the 10th cohort of Dangermond Fellows, he continues to further develop his GIS skills and conservation expertise while contributing to meaningful projects that drive positive change across the Western Hemisphere.

Natalie Tarbox earned her B.A. in Environmental Studies with a minor in Spatial Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she explored GIS, field research, and environmental justice. Now as a Dangermond Fellow, she continues using GIS to advance equity and environmental resilience for people, wildlife, and the planet.

We are seeking an experienced Field Survey Lead (Crew Chief) to join our small, close-knit team.
Our projects are primarily located in Lane County and surrounding counties, with occasional work elsewhere in Oregon. This is a field position leading a two-person survey crew. Occasionally, this position will require independent field work.

Responsibilities
  • Lead field survey operations efficiently and safely while maintaining high productivity
  • Operate and maintain Leica survey equipment (total stations, GPS/GNSS, data collectors)
  • Read and interpret maps, plats, deeds, and other legal documents related to land boundaries
  • Apply sound understanding of boundary principles, field survey procedures, field data collection, and error analysis
  • Check all field work for accuracy and completeness
  • Problem-solve independently in the field and adapt quickly to changing conditions
  • Adopt and apply company field standards and procedures
  • Collaborate professionally and respectfully with your crew partner, office staff, and the public

What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 3–5 years of field survey experience, including demonstrated experience in a lead or crew chief role
  • Proficiency with Leica survey equipment strongly preferred; experience with comparable modern equipment will be considered
  • Solid working knowledge of land boundary principles
  • Ability to read and interpret legal descriptions, surveys, and other property documents
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Formal education or certification in surveying or geomatics preferred, such as:
    • Associate’s Degree in a surveying-related field
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a surveying-related field
    • Survey Technician certification
  • Equivalent field experience will also be considered
  • Professional demeanor with clear, dependable communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions throughout the region
