For up to 24 months, GSP participants are provided rotational assignments throughout ODOT surveying disciplines. Participants are recognized as full-time employees, receiving a salary, a full benefits package, and mentorship from a registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS). This can provide up to two years qualifying time toward obtaining PLS licensure. Ideal GSP candidates will have recently passed (or be prepared to take and pass) the Land Surveyor Intern (LSI). Program training is provided through rotational assignments in the office and in the field in areas such as Right of Way Engineering, Construction Surveying, Geodetic Surveying, Mobile Mapping (LiDAR), and Project Development Surveying for a maximum of two years.
