SALARY: $45,636.00 - $67,416.00 Annually

ODOT's Graduate Survey Program is designed for recent survey graduates to transition from student to full-time land surveyors. For up to 24 months, GSP participants are provided rotational assignments throughout ODOT surveying disciplines. Participants are recognized as full-time employees, receiving a salary, a full benefits package, and mentorship from a registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS).  This can provide up to two years qualifying time toward obtaining PLS licensure.
 
Ideal GSP candidates will have recently passed (or be prepared to take and pass) the Land Surveyor Intern (LSI). Program training is provided through rotational assignments in the office and in the field in areas such as Right of Way Engineering, Construction Surveying, Geodetic Surveying, Mobile Mapping (LiDAR), and Project Development Surveying for a maximum of two years. The program is open to all qualified applicants including current, qualified ODOT employees.

• This position is represented by the Association of Engineering Employees of Oregon (AEE).
• Applications will be considered from students scheduled to graduate by June 2017.

 
General timeline for GSP application process:

• October-December: Applications are accepted.
• January: Applications are reviewed.
• February: Selected candidates are interviewed.
• February/March: Job offers are made.

 
Duties & Responsibilities

• The incumbent will embark on an 18 to 24 month rotational program of on-the-job training.  Each Graduate Survey participant will work with a mentor who will be assigned to the participant for the duration of the program. The work load will be customized to meet the needs of the individual as well as the unique needs of the hiring region or technical center.
• Rotations will include core teaching in field safety, work culture, and technical training.
• Following successful completions of the 18 to 24 month rotational program, participants will transition into full-time regular positions with the Department in the discipline of original hire.

 
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in survey/geomatics, geography/GIS, civil engineering or transportation-related engineering;
