Community Service Aide (CSA) II – Planning, Policy and Projects Group Planning Division May 30, 2018 The Position The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is hiring temporary positions to assist policy, planning, and equity efforts. Assistance is needed related to the Transportation System Plan (policy, projects & programs), Transportation Demand Management (TDM) planning, Equity Plan implementation and mapping, performance measures, facility planning, parking strategies, transit plans, area plans, public involvement, safety plans and programs, education and outreach, and construction projects. Tasks may include policy writing, analysis, and development; coordination with internal and external staff, memo writing, and duties related to public and stakeholder engagement. This position may also assist with grant applications, ordinance writing, and Bureau representation at meetings. Other tasks may include public involvement, map making, graphic production and administrative tasks. There will also be coordination with internal and external staff, memo writing, equity work and duties related to public and stakeholder engagement. Additional tasks may include document creation, producing written summaries, analyzing data, data entry, assisting with meeting set-up and take-down, taking notes, editing PowerPoint presentations, documenting public comment, and making maps using ArcGIS software. Required Qualifications ➢ Knowledge of transportation planning policies and principles ➢ Excellent research, organizational, and communication skills. ➢ Ability to work independently and as a team member. ➢ Diversity, equity and inclusion competencies, and experience/interest in working with diverse populations. ➢ Knowledge and experience working with ESRI ArcGIS and MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications ➢ Knowledge of urban and regional planning principles. ➢ Knowledge of and experience working with graphic design software, such as Adobe InDesign, Google SketchUp, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop, to produce reports and public engagement materials; website design and management. ➢ Conversational Spanish and/or Vietnamese. Compensation: $15.50 – $20.00 per hour based on experience and education; no benefits. Work Schedule: Flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM and some evening and weekend meetings; 20-32 hours per week.
