In this position, the Emergency Management Specialist (GIS) will serve under the supervision of the Emergency Communications Branch Chief, supporting and coordinating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Regional field operations within the Region X Response Division. In addition, you will implement, operate, populate, analyze, and maintain GIS applications and databases that support the emergency management cycle including preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. This position starts at a salary of $77,926 (IC-12).

​Responsibilities
As an Emergency Management Specialist (GIS), you will coordinate with FEMA’s GIS Working Group on GIS activities related to Regional activities.

Typical assignments include:

• Operating specialized Geospatial technology in order to support the production of geospatial products;
• Adhering to restrictions on the display and distribution of Individual Assistance (and other data source) information as specified by FEMA guidance including Privacy Act, licensing agreements, and data-owner restrictions;
• Creating and modifying maps using Agency approved GIS software and the basic understanding of geography, coordinates, datums, and projections;
• Geo-referencing data and use vector and raster data within GIS software;
• Supporting GIS server and web applications including ArcGIS Server, and Arc-SDE.
