GIS Administrator w/ County Road Administration Board (Olympia, WA)

​The mission of the Washington State County Road Administration Board (CRAB) is to preserve and enhance the transportation infrastructure of Washington Counties by providing standards of good practice, fair administration of funding programs, visionary leadership, and integrated, progressive, and professional technical services.

CRAB Information Services not only provides services to the Board's nine members and the sixteen staff members, but all those with in an interest in country road transportation issues, including, the State Legislature, 39 Washington State Counties, partner Agencies, and the public. To give an indication of the Agency's scope, CRAB software applications have approximately 500 named users. Agency IT services apply to operations management, asset management, finance, regulation, and more.

​Duties
Some of what you will be doing include:
  • This position will be the GIS subject matter expert on a small, yet effective, IT team of five, which serves over 500 customers.
  • GIS Server Administrator, installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the Agency ESRI ArcServer.
  • GIS Analyst, consulting with clients and staff to determine business and system requirements, designing and analyzing alternative solutions.
  • GIS application developer, writing scripts/code that combines geospatial data from multiple sources and data systems.
  • Assistant Network/System Administrator, assisting the Agency IT Systems Security Manager in maintenance and operations of Agency IT Infrastructure.
  • Make data model recommendations to efficiently support GIS applications and store enterprise geospatial data.
  • Train & support Agency staff and business customers in issues related to Agency GIS applications and integration.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, Engineering, or related field
OR
  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, Engineering, or related field and work experience in an IT role
OR
  • Vocational and/or certification in IT disciplines or related program and work experience in an IT role
OR
  • Four (4) years of IT experience such as analyzing, designing, installing, programming, and/or maintaining GIS, hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment or providing customer or technical support in IT.
AND
  • Ability to be both a productive team member and proactive in independent activities, with excellent time management skills in both cases.
  • Comfortable with a wide scope in responsibilities and continually learning new skills and technologies.

PREFERRED:
  • Experience with GIS, ArcServer, ArcDesktop, QGIS, ArcOnline, SDE, MobileCollector, and/or Survey123.
  • Experience with virtual machine environment, Linux, Windows Server, MS Exchange, and/or MS Active Directory
  • Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS). Ex. VueWorks, Cartegraph, or Maximo.
  • Experience with programming languages, such as, Python, T-SQL, ColdFusion, C#, AngularJS, JavaScript, ASP.NET, etc.
  • Specific knowledge of Washington State's county road/public works organizations, structures, capabilities, and management needs.
