Job Summary. Will include but is not limited to performing technical work of moderate difficulty in the realms of spatial analysis, development and maintenance of spatial data, and preparation of presentation-quality maps using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) applications.
Education and Experience. Bachelor’s Degree in geography, geographical information systems or directly related field and one to three years of technical geographical information systems experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. A valid state driver’s license or other valid state ID must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be able to pass a State and Federal criminal history background check. Skills In. Analyzing complex data and information systems problems, evaluating alternatives, and making logical recommendations based on findings; GIS application software including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and AutoCAD software; reading, understanding, developing, manipulating, and analyzing geographic information in a variety of data formats and projections; effective computer cartographic design, layout, and production; balancing aesthetic and informational requirements of map products; compilation, analysis, and presentation of technical and statistical information in reports; reading, understanding, and analyzing map imagery and geographic information, and interpreting planning information; assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other agencies, contractors, and other employees; following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions. Ability. Prepare and maintain complex reports and records; read, write, and synthesize data; read and write project descriptions; use modern office equipment and computers; read and comprehend maps, records, and engineering documents; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; follow written and verbal instructions; plan, prioritize, manage, and respond to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; lift up to 5 – 25 lbs; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation. Required Knowledge. Data modeling best practices, Cartographic production, Scaling maps and images, Coordinate systems (geographic and planar), Transformation between coordinate systems, Data conversion (Excel to GDB and others), Spatial and attribute queries, Quality assurance procedures, System access and security guidelines and procedures. Recommended Knowledge. SDSFIE, Large format printing, Hardware and software troubleshooting techniques, Planning principles, Master planning concepts. Required Software Competency. ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat Pro. Recommended Software Competency. Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. Working Environment. Eugene, OR office is preferred. Working at a computer monitor for extended periods required. Remote working location upon approval. Up to 50% travel. Salary.
