The Dairy Nutrient Management Program (DNMP), a program within the Agricultural Environmental Services Division, provides the Washington State dairy, livestock and related industries with education and technical training to help them comply with nutrient management regulations. DNMP supports nutrient management through offering training events, providing technical assistance to producers, and carrying out inspections, investigations, and enforcement for some livestock operations. Our program’s mission is to promote good nutrient management that protects public health, the environment, and sustains agricultural viability in Washington. The DNMP GIS Analyst (Cartographer 3) develops Geographic Information System (GIS) databases, processes and tools to support the needs of the program. The GIS Analyst also maintains existing and new GIS services and conducts research on new and emerging technologies related to field data collection and data management. Finally, the GIS Analyst is responsible for providing training materials and assisting field staff statewide on use of GIS tools and databases, troubleshooting issues virtually. As a non-permanent appointment through June 30, 2025, DNMP aims to hire a proficient user of ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online to use out-of-the-box tools and innovative ideas to develop, maintain and provide initial support for key GIS field processes. The ideal candidate would be ready to jump into these activities to build program capacity as well as possess a personal goal of developing their portfolio as a GIS professional.
