The Operations and Maintenance division is looking for a highly skilled and self-motivated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst that will provide professional-level support to end users of GIS data within the department. Incumbents in this role analyze a variety of statistics and spatial data to create diagrams, illustrations and maps. They also develop applications using GIS technology, which includes translating the application specifications into programs, and recommend program actions based on the results of geographic data analysis. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be an expert in data management, web map and app integrations using ESRI Enterprise GIS. Working with datasets from a standard SQL server to SDE SQL server in real time or near real time is required to meet the needs of the division. This often requires competency in reading, creating and maintaining queries, views, functions, triggers and stored procedures with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Scripting GIS automation with Python is a must. The candidate ideally will also have previously worked with the full suite of linear referencing tools, from route creation to the maintenance of linear referenced events. Cityworks or other enterprise asset management system implementation experience and supporting map services utilizing the Javascript API framework application is also desirable. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to work interdependently, think creatively, and communicate effectively. Experience in local government supporting road or transportation asset datasets is preferred, but not required.
