As a GIS Analyst for Publix Super Markets, Inc. you'll help enhance store sales by performing complex data analyses on markets using specialized expert knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) data including demographics, consumer behaviors (drive times, interests [baby, pets]), spending patterns, competitive landscape and trade area composition.
Additional responsibilities include: • Receiving, organizing, cleansing, storing, and managing data from multiple sources required to create and maintain cross-departmental decision support systems. • Constructing, maintaining, storing, and automating a collection of the most commonly requested market and demographic reports and maps using GIS tools, techniques, and data sets. • Collaborating with peer Marketing Analytics Analysts to gather research from multiple sources for the purpose of writing custom research reports Work Environment: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday Compensation: $22.30/hour - $30.85/hour Requirements Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields: Geography, Business, Management Information Systems (MIS), Economics, Market Research, Statistics or equivalent analytical degree or experience, • 1 - 3 years in an analytical role specializing in data manipulation, interpretation, report writing, and map generation, • 1 - 3 years analytical experience using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and Geospatial analytics, • knowledge of marketing principles including the market research process, • knowledge of cartographic (mapping) principles: map projections, thematic mapping principles, and key map elements, • knowledge of data analysis, general business and report writing skills, • knowledge of internal and external data available for analyses and reporting: sales data, scan data, demographics, government agencies, consumers, customers, spending, and competitors, etc., • knowledge of multiple software applications, including but are not limited to, Geographic Information System (GIS) applications (ESRI and MapInfo), business intelligence applications (Alteryx), standard MS Office applications, and statistical tools, such as R and SPSS, • knowledge of relational databases, • knowledge of and skills in mathematical equations and algebra, geometry, statistical formulas and how/when to apply equations and formulas to analysis, • ability to adhere to data integrity and confidentiality of information, • ability to be inquisitive and ask probing questions, • conceptual thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving, detailed oriented, judgment and decision making, • inductive and deductive reasoning skills, • ability to communicate verbally and in written form, • project and time management skills, • ability to outline, design, and develop actionable research reports, reference guides, and training materials in a well-organized and concise written form, • ability and willingness to learn technology and research tools, • ability to work independently with minimal supervision, • willingness to occasionally work extended hours and on the weekends, and • willingness to travel up to one week at a time with overnight stays to competitors and/or Publix locations Preferred Qualifications: • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Geography, Marketing, Statistics or equivalent analytical disciplines, • 3 - 5 years in an analytical role specializing in data manipulation, interpretation, and report writing and map generation, • 3 -5 years analytical experience using a Geographic Information System (GIS) specializing in demographics and consumer behaviors, and purchasing, and customer segmentation analyses, • ability to select and reduce data using Structured Query Language (SQL) available in different software application, • geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP), • knowledge of Microsoft Access, and/or • familiarity with the terminology and operations of the grocery business and/or large-scale retail environment http://jobs.aag.org/jobseeker/job/30121161/ Comments are closed.
