GIS Analyst w/ Suburban Consulting Engineers (NJ / Remote)

Brief Description: GIS Analyst is a hybrid role the requires GIS work in the office and field data collection in the field.  The GIS Analyst compiles, manipulates, and analyzes GIS geospatial data and creates reports, maps, applications, and visualizations to meet project requirements.  Under direction, develops, manages, and presents spatial data using Esri ArcGIS software. This position will provide GIS expertise, support, assistance, and guidance to organizational staff and external clients.

Examples of work/duties:

​Data Creation, Collection, and Integration:

• Create, collect, organize, and integrate geographic data relevant to utilities, local government, civil engineering and environmental projects.
• Designs, develops, and maintains databases and systems of GIS data.
• Collaborate with project teams to incorporate GIS data into engineering designs and analyses.

Map Production and Visualization:

• Produce high-quality maps (web and hard copy) for projects, presentations, and proposals.
• Configures web maps and mobile applications using Esri software.
• Work closely with clients and project teams to visually communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner.

GIS Software Utilization:

• Utilize the following Esri GIS software to perform data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
  -ArcGIS Pro
  -ArcGIS Online
  -ArcGIS Enterprise
  -ArcGIS Field Maps
  -ArcGIS Survey123
  -ArcGIS Experience Builder
  -ArcGIS Dashboards
• Stay informed about the latest GIS tools and techniques applicable to engineering projects.
• Field Data Collection
• Perform field data collection using high-accuracy Global Navigational Satellite Systems (GNSS) equipment, ArcGIS mobile applications, and RTK.
• Ensure the proper setup and calibration of GNSS equipment to achieve optimal accuracy and precision in data collection.
• Implement best practices in GNSS data collection to meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Troubleshoot and address any issues related to GNSS equipment and collected field data.
• Work closely with project managers to coordinate field data collection schedules and prioritize tasks based on project timelines.

Spatial Analysis for Engineering Projects:

• Conduct spatial analysis using GIS tools to support engineering projects.
• Assist in identifying and analyzing spatial patterns that contribute to effective decision-making.
• Collaboration with Engineering Project Teams:
• Collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists, and other professionals to integrate GIS into multidisciplinary projects.
• Communicate GIS findings to non-GIS experts within the company.
• May provide training or GIS assistance to clients or project team members.

Quality Assurance and Documentation:

• Conduct quality checks on GIS data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Document GIS workflows and processes for project reference and future use.

Requirements (education, licensing, certifications, etc.):

• Four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Engineering, or related.
• One (1) to five (5) years of related GIS work.
• Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check as required by client.
• Proficient in Microsoft.

Experience Using:

• ArcGIS Pro
• ArcGIS Online

• GISP Certification
• Esri Certifications
• Experience with Esri Applications including ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey123, and ARcGIS Experience Builder, and ArcGIS Dashboards
• Arcade and Python Scripting
• SQL Databases
