Geographical Information Systems Analyst
Pacific Northwest or Remote

Position is based in Portland, with options to work remotely in the Pacific Northwest.

What You Will Do
This role presents you with the opportunity for innovative project work for a diverse clientele, developing solutions across a variety of disciplines including climate adaptation, health and equity, disaster management, species recovery, environmental restoration, and transportation planning. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment  with data scientists, designers, biologists, conservation planners, archaeologists, and transportation experts. You will join our analytical team which includes software developers, data modelers, and geographic information system analysts. This will afford you the opportunity to broaden and enhance your existing skill set as well as train others in a collaborative environment, implementing technology that interests and excites you!

What You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, environmental sciences, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in GIS using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro
  • Proven experience with complex spatial modeling, including the use of Model Builder and Python Scripting
  • Proven experience working with ArcGIS Online, Collector/Field Maps
  • Experience with ArcGIS extensions e.g. Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst
  • Experience with Python, including the ArcPy module, and the ability to manipulate scripts for use in automating analysis and figure production
  • Understand cartographic principles and possess the ability to produce quality maps while maintaining efficiency
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Excel, Access, Word); comfortable with Excel operations such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex concepts/analysis to non-technical/non-expert audience
  • Ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team to provide client services
  • Ability to be adaptive in a fast-paced environment, including learning new technologies and juggling multiple projects depending on priority need.

What We’d Like You to Have
  • Experience with QGIS
  • Experience creating smart field data collection forms with platforms such as Fulcrum
  • Familiarity with web development and working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with open-source mapping platforms/libraries e.g. ArcGIS for JavaScript API, Carto, Mapbox, Google, or Leaflet
  • Experience with spatial statistics and R
