Clackamas County’s Assessment and Taxation Department is seeking a GIS Cartographer to join their team. The
goal is to fill this position with the most competitive candidate as a GIS Cartographer 1 or 2 based on the chosen candidates' level of experience. The GIS Cartographer 1 is the entry level in the series. The incumbent assists preparing tracings, drawings and maps of limited complexity, corrects existing maps and records and performs various office support activities. The GIS Cartographer 2 is the full journey level in the series. The incumbent independently performs complex cadastral map drafting involved in the preparation and maintenance of assessment maps, prepares, maintains and amends the Assessor’s maps and GIS database, performs difficult research, interprets legal descriptions and performs cadastral drafting work. Successful candidates will have knowledge and work experience working with legal documents, such as deeds or titles and be familiar with property ownership records. Additionally, successful candidates will have the ability to perform accurate cadastral map drafting, convert, join and manipulate tables from standard formats into GIS formats, and read and interpret detailed data, policies or legal descriptions relating to title search or preparation of cadastral maps The Assessment and Taxation Office maintains a conflict of interest policy regarding active real estate licenses.
