3 ParkServe GIS Data Collection and Creation Intern Positions
 
Duration: January 1st or sooner through October 31st, 2017
40 hours per week at a rate of $15/hour in The Trust for Public Land Santa Fe, NM office
 
Essential Functions:

• Primary functions: Assist the GIS team with implementing a nationwide urban parks and open spaces database, specifically:
  • Data collection via direct contact with local/state/federal government partners, NGOs and others and through Internet searches
  • GIS data creation including:
    • digitizing from source documents and aerial photography
    • importing and translating digital files
    • tabular data entry
  • Data pre-processing and QA/QC (geospatial and tabular) using automated tools and manual techniques
  • Collection of other data as directed
• Participate in The Trust for Public Land National GIS team meetings as appropriate
• The Trust for Public Land will provide guidance, oversight and standards related to all tasks

 
Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency with Esri ArcGIS 10.2 or higher, including but not limited to inspecting, creating, and editing geospatial data, building and working in geodatabases, and performing spatial analysis using built-in tools and functions
• Experience collecting, managing and processing geospatial and tabular data (including understanding projections, geodatabase structure and data management concepts)
• Experience  with geodatabases, RDMSs (SDE and SQL a plus) and project tracking systems
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
• Experience with customer service or teaching/training others preferred
• Experience writing summaries or “how to” documents helpful
• Demonstrated ability to balance working efficiently with attention to detail 
• Experience working successfully in a team environment
• Must be able to work onsite at the Santa Fe office
