We are eager to attract the best, so we offer competitive compensation. This internship program will take place in Portland, Oregon during the spring/summer of 2019.  

What you’ll do on a typical day: 

• Create production-quality field maps (using ArcMap, QGIS and other GIS tools) for conducting strategic spatial analyses to help improve/drive business decisions 
• Perform database management tasks by learning/using SQL to discover data patterns and provide insights 
• Utilize basic to advanced geospatial network analyses, including vehicle routing problems, location allocations and origin destination (OD) cost matrices 
• Provide support for incoming mapping and analysis requests 
• Automate tasks by learning/assisting using basic Python and R coding, including annotating and debugging code 

• Learn about the transportation/logistics industry and how to apply geospatial analytics to provide creative solutions 
• Participate in a collaborative environment with team members, engage with new technologies and troubleshoot existing inefficiencies 
• Document procedures to help develop process flow diagrams 

What you need to succeed at XPO: 
At a minimum, you’ll need: 

• Background or education in GIS, Geography or Engineering (juniors and above preferred) 

It’d be great if you also have: 

• Coursework or certificate in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) 
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

• Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
