The Opportunity:  
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking an experienced Information Technology Specialist to fill the role of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Application Developer.
 
In this role, the incumbent will specialize in the area of geospatial application design, development, maintenance and support. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining software solutions that use geospatial technologies to produce solutions for the traveling public and WSDOT staff.
 
The Transportation Data, GIS and Modeling Office provides applications and components that WSDOT staff use to spatially understand enterprise data and deliver actionable information. As a member of the GIS Development team you will use geospatial technology to deliver custom interactive applications with embedded maps and analysis tools.  These applications are viewed thousands of time day by the traveling public and internal WSDOT Staff.

This position will perform the following work:

• Develop, enhance and maintain GIS software applications and systems to support multiple offices in multiple divisions.
• Respond to production failures and provide technical support for software applications.
• Work closely with customers to assure business requirements are being met
• Coordinate and recommend testing strategies for development products to ensure timely resolution of defects.
• Coordinate application development efforts.
• Coordinate data related issues.
• Perform GIS server tuning activities.
