You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid State issued driver's license prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year, or more frequently if management determines such need exists. Lastly, you may be required to submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that discloses all valid driver's licenses, You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. This position has a mixed work schedule based on the varying workload, and your work schedule is subject to change from part-time to Qualifications All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/17/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position, you must meet at least ONE of the following BASIC EDUCATION requirements PLUS minimum qualifications. BASIC EDUCATION - Geographer, GS-0150. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields. You must provide transcripts. -OR- A combination of education and experience, which includes courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You must provide transcripts. BASIC EDUCATION - Biologist, GS-0401. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. You must provide transcripts. -OR- A combination of education and experience, which includes courses equivalent to a major as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You must provide transcripts. BASIC EDUCATION - Physical Scientist, GS-1301. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials or electronics. You must provide transcripts. -OR- A combination of education and experience, which includes courses equivalent to one of the majors as shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You must provide transcripts. BASIC EDUCATION - Cartographer, GS-1370. Successful completion of a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in cartography or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites). You must submit your transcripts. -OR- A combination of education and experience, which includes courses equivalent to one of the majors as shown above that included at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You must provide transcripts. - AND -To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess AT LEAST ONE of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all four elements: (1) using Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) software and technology to provide technical support in the creation and maintenance of geospatial and relational databases; (2) training others in the use of GIS and GPS applications; (3) creating geospatial data and maps following established guidelines; and (4) developing, updating, and managing map services. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university with major study that is directly related to the position. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first divide your total months of qualifying specialized experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one (1) year (18 semester hours) by 18. Add the two percentages together. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: only graduate education in excess of one year is creditable toward meeting the experience requirement when combining experience and education). You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
