About the position: The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is seeking detail-oriented GIS professionals to fill two vacant GIS Technician II positions, one in the Utilities, Construction & Inspection Division with responsibility for maintaining private utility infrastructure data; and, one in the Technology Services Division's GIS team where the incumbent will maintain a wide array of bureau asset and operational data. In both positions, the technician's primary responsibility will be digitization of infrastructure from project plans and work order diagrams. However, in addition to data maintenance, the GIS Technician II may be called on to perform other GIS-related duties, including:
Using cartographic and graphic design tools to represent spatial data as maps, charts and graphics Ability to work with staff to determine if GIS tool(s) can be used to gain efficiencies" An ideal candidate will have a commitment to data quality, the ability to focus on detail, and manage time and workload in an independent manner.
