ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Northeast Information Center (NEIC) is one of nine Information Centers of the California Historical Resources Information System (CHRIS). The NEIC archives and maintains a physical and digital inventory of archaeological and historical records and reports for an 11-county area of northeast California. The NEIC also conducts research for clients on a fee-for-service basis. In addition, the NEIC promotes education regarding preservation of cultural resources by working with state and federal agencies, local governments, Native American tribes, historical societies, and others in this effort. Under the supervision of the NEIC Coordinator, responsibilities include:
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: A bachelor’s degree in Geography, Anthropology, History, or related field; OR the equivalent of two years of college and one year of professional experience providing technical expertise in GIS administration.
