GIS Technician w/ City of Auburn (WA)

​The City of Auburn Engineering department is looking for a talented GIS Inventory Technician to add to our team! In this position, you will perform technical and field work in support of the Engineering Services Division and will be responsible for conducting system inventory and coordinating the mapping of that inventory in order to improve the overall management of the City's assets.

In this role you will:
  • Conduct system inventories, assemble records, and coordinate updates to master geodatabase with correct information.
  • Operate basic survey equipment including, but not limited to, a handheld GPS Trimble data collection unit.
  • Use CarteGraph asset management software, ArcGISPro, Laserfiche, and Trakit software to enter, track, and retrieve data for the various systems; and prepare reports as assigned.
  • Edit the master file geodatabase with corrected information obtained from field and office work.
  • Operate reproduction equipment to produce copies of maps, plans, reports, and other data.

We are looking for candidates that have:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent .
  • Two (2) years of college-level course work in engineering or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of applicable experience OR a combination of applicable education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the primary functions of the position.
  • Possess and retain a valid state driver's license without impending loss at time of appointment.
  • A candidate with experience in ESRI ArcGISPro software is preferred; editing geodatabases within a multiuser GIS (enterprise-level) environment; and/or GIS data maintenance and geoprocessing is highly desirable.
  • A Geographic Information Systems Certification is highly desirable.
