GIS Technicians - (contract) with Collaborative Vision (Portland)

Role description:

• Technical position that provides data maintenance, graphics, planning, analysis, mapping, and technical assistance where needed related to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) activity.
• Projects include working with regional jurisdictional data, OpenStreetMap data, OpenStreetMap tools, databases, and ESRI software.
• Update and maintain OpenStreetMap using aerial photography, jurisdictional data, and street view imagery in support of operational purposes.
• Requires collaborating with local jurisdictions and the OpenStreetMap Community.
• Additional assignments may consist of: data collection with GPS units; editing, creating and verifying map layers and spatial data using field checks or reference data; and gathering data and information for the development of GIS projects.
• May include map verification processes and data preparation processes for internal systems such as trip planner, scheduling, and dispatch.
• Conduct miscellaneous mapping assignments and provide general GIS support.
• Research, conduct fieldwork and/or views aerial photography to collect and verify GIS data.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree, or accredited certificate in GIS, computer science, statistical analysis, geography, urban planning or related field is required.
• Experience in GIS data mapping and analysis, GPS data collection, and related software.
• Intermediate skills with Word, Excel, Outlook, database applications and other software applications.
• Ability to adapt quickly and function within a variety of different software environments.
• Ability to think analytically and to problem solve.
• Ability to work independently and with a supervisor or team.
• Ability to follow directions in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Ability to work within deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to observe good work ethics; be dependable, reliable and conscientious.
