GIS/AutoCAD Analyst w/ GSI Water Solutions (Hybrid Remote in PDX)

​The GIS/AutoCAD Analyst will join the Information Technology Services team and will assist GSI engineers, geologists, and related professionals completing engineering, remedial design, hydrogeological, and other technical services for our clients. 

​Primary Responsibilities

The duties below are not inclusive but characteristic of the type of work associated with the position. The selected candidate may do all or some combination of the duties listed below as well as other related duties.

GIS – 70%
  • Fulfill company-wide mapping requests, for internal support and external deliverables.
  • Provide geospatial analyses.
  • Demonstrate and apply an understanding/knowledgebase of geospatial topics and best practices including projections, data management and version control, spatial analysis techniques, georeferencing, digitizing, editing features, and field data collection techniques.
  • Learn and apply new skills and tools during the life cycle of a project.
  • Create, edit, and manage vector and raster data, and acquire data from online clearinghouses.
  • Populate geospatial metadata per Federal Geospatial Data Committee (FGDC guidelines)
  • Determine clients' needs, communicate solutions, design workflows and data management techniques to increase efficiencies, and maintain the quality of deliverables.

AutoCAD – 25%

Candidate will work directly with engineers on 3D designs for environmental remediation and clean water infrastructure utilizing Autodesk software (AutoCAD Civil 3D). Project work includes development of civil layout drawings, dredge prisms, grading plans, roads, and remediation or water support infrastructure. Knowledge of cut and fill calculations, riverbank excavation and restoration designs, dredging and capping designs, water and water quality infrastructure design, and design of final grading is preferred. Development of contract drawings, field investigations, and support during construction are also important.
  • Use Autodesk programs to design 3D models for use by others.
  • Prepare 3D models and layouts and perform final drafting tasks from general instructions or conceptual information.
  • Demonstrate skills with thorough knowledge of procedures, practices, and use of the Autodesk software.
  • Work within company design standards and specifications to prepare drawings in conjunction with other design disciplines.

Graphics Support – 5%

Candidate will work with marketing team to develop graphics using Adobe products (Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Photoshop).

Minimum Qualifications:

Job seekers applying for the GIS/AutoCAD Analyst position should have:
  • High School Diploma, additional education/certifications a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, ArcPRO, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcCatalog, GNSS equipment, Collector/Field Maps software and related extensions including Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, CrossView and Geostatistical Analyst with a working knowledge of geospatial topics and best practices including projections, data management and version control, spatial analysis techniques, linear referencing, editing features, metadata creation, and field data collection techniques.

The GIS/AutoCAD Analyst should demonstrate high levels of integrity and accountability. The GIS/AutoCAD Analyst should possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong cartographic skills
  • Ability to complete basic calculations related to engineering drawings including areas, lengths, distances, elevations, datum conversions and coordinate systems. Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and verbally essential.
  • Familiarity with Adobe products (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) a plus, and/or desire to learn
  • Effective oral and written communication essential
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and work with tight deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, organized, ability to multitask, prioritize and self-disciplined in order to organize time and work efficiently in a face-paced and exciting consulting environment.
Working Conditions:  Requires frequent computer use in an office setting and may require sitting for long periods of time at meetings. Hybrid work arrangement may be available. 

Benefits:
  • Paid time off (PTO).  PTO is frontloaded annually with your first year prorated relative to your start date. PTO encompasses vacation, sick, and holiday time for one calendar year. The amount of PTO resets on January 1 of each year; up to 120 hours of PTO is allowed to be rolled over annually.
  • Holidays.  In addition to the PTO, GSI has three paid holidays when GSI offices are closed: Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
  • Medical/Dental Insurance.  Approximately 80 percent of the monthly premium for medical (which includes vision and alternative care options) and dental insurance is paid by GSI for you and your family. You are eligible for coverage the first day of the month following date of hire. 
  • Life and disability Insurance.  Company-paid short-term, long-term disability, and life insurance.
  • 401(k). Participation in a 401(k) plan with a company match of up to 4 percent of your base salary.  Under the Safe Harbor 401(k) rules, employees must contribute at least 5 percent of their annual salary to their 401(k) account to receive the full match. You are eligible for coverage the first day of the month following date of hire. 
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Participation in GSI’s ESOP. The annual contribution to employee’s ESOP accounts varies depending upon business conditions; however, annual contributions have averaged about 3.5 percent of annual salary. All regular employees participate in the ESOP after 1,000 hours of service in a calendar year. Employees are fully vested after 5 years.
  • Allowances.  Additional compensation is provided for cell phone and transportation (parking, transit pass, etc.). For full-time employees we provide $70 per month for cell phone and will contribute up to $135 per month in a Flexible Spending Account for transportation costs.
