Mapping & GIS Supervisor w/ Portland Bureau of Transportation

The City of Portland is hiring a Mapping & GIS Supervisor within the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT).   The Mapping & GIS Supervisor will direct and oversee the bureau's GIS program and supervise the GIS technicians. This position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the bureau's GIS, ensuring key asset data is being captured and maintained, and identifying and prioritizing tasks to enhance and further enable the functionality of the program. The position will also oversee the development and maintenance of databases, interfaces and reporting tools for a wide variety of bureau business processes related to GIS.

The GIS & Mapping section within PBOT, maps engineering as-builts, work-orders and projects, provides GIS data reporting, data design, data conversion and geo-processing services. The section provides cartographic and project mapping in support of PBOT operational and program activities, including asset management and data editing of PBOT assets and features, utilizing appropriate technologies such as custom GIS tools that integrate with PBOT's Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system (IBM-Maximo) and provides GIS end-user support and training.

An ideal candidate will have strong GIS experience, lead or management experience,  as well as the ability to present and speak in front of high level management and City council.

To Qualify
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position
  1. Knowledge of the GIS techniques & best practices relevant to the implementation, management, and enhancement of GIS user applications. (Such as: functionalities, analytic tools and techniques, operation, and quality control and assurance)
  2. Experience using, training, and supporting GIS software, computer-aided drafting, graphics and/or other applications to carry out assigned responsibilities. 
  3. Experience consulting with customers (multiple stakeholders or outside consultants) by translating business needs or requirements into GIS solutions.
  4. Ability to assess user productivity requirements, set priorities, and allocate resources to most effectively meet needs. 
  5. Ability to supervise a multicultural workforce, promote an equitable workplace environment, and apply equitable program practices
