NASA OSTEM Internships will offer Spring opportunities as virtual, in-person, and hybrid. No prior experience is required to apply. Students can find more information and apply at: http://intern.nasa.gov Please find just a few examples of GIScience projects below (Major: Social Science - Geography and Cartography) Disaster Response Coordination Information Management NASA’s Disaster Response Coordination System is accepting applications for an internship at NASA Langley Research Center working with the DRCS team to explore topics such as: 1) Partnership development: Research and compile information on disaster response organizations and identification of potential partner organizations and opportunities for collaboration. 2) Geospatial analysis: support the DRCS in geospatial analysis and application of Earth observations for disaster response. 3) Knowledge management: research capabilities for building out functionalities in Microsoft SharePoint and Teams for programmatic knowledge capture and sharing. 4) Communications: identify gaps in current communication products and support the development of new materials for raising awareness in a variety of audiences. The intern will gain experience conducting research regarding Earth observation data products relevant to disaster response, GIS, general knowledge and information management, and communications.. Interns will advance the use of remote sensing for detecting, understanding, and forecasting patterns of life on Earth. This position will examine linkages and synergistic relationships between these programs and other activities within and outside of NASA. Interns will support the development and expansion of EOTEC tools and guidance, such as Flood and Drought Tools Trackers and Earth Observation Needs Assessment Guidance. The intern will have the opportunity to network with NASA employees across ESD, and apply geospatial analysis and visualization skills. Computer, technical and social media skills are a suggestion, but any individual with a passion for using Earth Observation for society’s benefit is encouraged to apply, regardless of background or education.
