Title: The National Audubon Society Dangermond Fellowship Presentation of Excellence 25/26
Date: Tuesday May 26 at 9-10 HT / 12-1 PT / 1-2 MT / 3-4 ET Description: The Dangermond Fellowship is an exciting partnership between National Audubon Society and Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). This fellowship is designed to foster the next generation of leaders in the enterprise GIS, science, and nonprofit/conservation sectors. Throughout the year, Fellows receive extensive and immersive training in the full ArcGIS platform. Fellows also work directly with the Audubon network to provide support for new and ongoing projects. This presentation will highlight some of this work, including ways the Enterprise GIS department is incorporating AI to streamline quality reporting of trails and other assets at Audubon centers, providing flood risk assessments for Audubon properties, and large-scale analysis to understand how landscape and habitat plays into Audubon’s work. Speakers: Sophie Stein graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine with a B.A. in Environmental Policy. Now based in Alaska, she combines her love for outdoor spaces with GIS mapping and community engaged research. In her role as a Dangermond Fellow, Sophie creates GIS products to enrich conservation science, policy & community engagement at Audubon. Isaiah Bennett graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Geography with a minor in Spanish. As a part of the 10th cohort of Dangermond Fellows, he continues to further develop his GIS skills and conservation expertise while contributing to meaningful projects that drive positive change across the Western Hemisphere. Natalie Tarbox earned her B.A. in Environmental Studies with a minor in Spatial Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she explored GIS, field research, and environmental justice. Now as a Dangermond Fellow, she continues using GIS to advance equity and environmental resilience for people, wildlife, and the planet. All are welcome! Please share with your networks!
